FilmAid's Mobile Cinema: Mary's Miracle!

At first glance, the petite, energetic, quick to smile, intensely professional producer/director Mary Soan, U.K. representative to the FilmAid Advisory Committee, might seem an unlikely candidate to produce the design and supervise the building of FilmAid's mighty mobile cinema truck which draws crowds of 13,000 viewers in a single evening at Kakuma Refugee Camp in northern Kenya. But looks are often deceiving --- and Mary Soan's natural gifts of creativity, ingenuity, charm and dogged determination --- coupled with her passion for the mission of FilmAid and the willingness to sacrifice several months of gainful employment --- resulted in what has become the heart of FilmAid's programs in East Africa: our mobile cinema truck.

FilmAid thanks Mary Soan for this miracle vehicle and all the joy it brings.
